The conflict takes place in the Solent, Southern England.
The Royal Navy has been poorly funded for a number of years and the South Coast of England is under threat from the French.
The basic map of the Solent was scanned in from a modern road map and then edited for use in Cossacks Art of War. As a result, although it is not to scale, the basic coastal outlines are correct. The fortifications are based on the actual fortifications of the period, the key towns are also represented.
The scenario is fictional, although both the Spanish and French have attempted raids and invasions throughout British history.
Just thought i would add to my initial comments above.
The scenario is my first attempt at map making/scenario scripting. The French forces are partly scripted, but they are also controlled by the AI. There are no messages to prompt you, this was to simplify scripting and reduce the risk of my hard work being messed up.
When the scenario starts, you will see numerous viewable areas where English settlements are placed. All land in the scenario is actually English territory, so any French must be expelled completely. The large island in the centre and south is the Isle of Wight, the town at the north of the island is Cowes.
The town north of Cowes on the mainland is Portsmouth, a very important naval port. The other major town is Southampton, this is to north west of the map. Hurst castle is represented at the far west of the map.
To gain the upperhand, your main priority is to exploit your resources as soon as possible. You must recapture all land and expell the French.
